About Us
The story so far...
2014
In October of 2014, Scott had a dream. Not a dream of starting a business or of publishing anything, but a vivid dream of thieves and tall buildings. He wrote down the details that would become Her Violet Empire.
2017
In September of 2017, Scott played in an exhibition hockey game at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, and ended up in the ER with a badly broken ankle. Unable to walk or drive for the next two months, he wrote the bulk of his first book.
2019
Scott and his mom, Susie, begin talking about turning her childhood stories of a young life lived abroad into a young readers story. Work begins on the first of Susie's Adventures.
2020
During the COVID-19 outbreak, Scott finally finished Her Violet Empire and began editing in earnest. Beta reads were extremely promising and the thought of actually publishing took root.
December 2021
By early December 2021, it was on. Scott's personal site, https://www.scottalexanderclark.com went live, and the works were set in motion.
January 2022
Final editing on Her Violet Empire was completed, and the first notions of a publishing imprint were started. Unfortunately, on 6 Jan, Scott's cat Max passed away, and the name Maximum Cat was added.
February 2022
Maximum Cat Press was born and became a licensed business in Sumner County, Tennessee.
April 2022
maximumcatpress.com goes live! Her Violet Empire released on April 5th.
September 2022
Her Violet Empire was entered into a book contest. On September 1, 2022, Scott was named Twin Tales Publishing's 2022 Indie Author of the Year.
November 2023
Scott relaunches his first book as The Duchess and the Accidental Thief - Her Violet Empire: Book 1 on November 7th.
October 2024
Scott launches The Duchess and the Indigo Child - Her Violet Empire: Book 2 on October 29th.
The Future...
The third book in the Her Violet Empire series is already in progress. Susie's Adventures are underway, and a true children's book or series based on the character of Vernon is being researched. All of these are planned to be published through Maximum Cat Press!
